Here are a few common signs of inferior welds and why they matter:

• Porosity: tiny air bubbles trapped in the weld that weaken its overall strength. Over time, this can lead to brittleness and small cracks that grow, especially with extreme temperature fluctuations.
• Undercutting: gaps or grooves along the edge of the weld that leave the metal thinner than it should be. This creates weak points along the structure, making it more likely to fail under stress or everyday use.
• Cold welds: a weld that may look fine on the surface but never fully bonded to the metal. Since it’s essentially just sitting on top, it can separate or break unexpectedly when pressure is applied.

These issues might seem minor at first, but they can lead to cracking, structural weakness, or even complete failure down the line, especially in climates where materials are constantly expanding and contracting.
